Your mind, body and emotions need some rest from worry, not activity (90)
An Ancient Eastern Proverb – It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.
Even nature reveals in our early development the magic of growth happens while we sleep.
Three magical things we allow during sleep or rest
1. We consciously let go of our part in the process and leave the rest to God
If we have sown good seed in good soil, all we need to do is water and a bit of nurture from time to time, the rest is left to nature.
2. During restful sleep, our subconscious wakes up
The subconscious is that space of creativity that is often suppressed by the daily grind
How often I’ve heard by others as they share that the answer came in the middle of the night or while they were walking or doing something recreational etc.. Moments where we’ve stopped trying to solve life’s problems and the answer dropped out of the proverbial sky.
3. Sleep and rest is where our mental batteries get recharged
As the ancient proverb suggests, it becomes useless just to keep spinning our wheals for such little traction.
Natural ambition has its limitations
I achieved so much in my early years through sheer hard work which cost me many restless years. I neglected some fundamentals of faith, creativity and favour.
We can either join the rest of the world that just scrapes through mentally with a bullish mindset and get our pound of flesh; or we can be the envy of the world and experience flow.
Famous offer from Jesus, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Striking the balance between blind ambition and walking a life favour will often be revealed by a restful soul.
It can’t all be hard work, year in year out, something is dramatically wrong if this is the case. What good would it be if you managed to gain the whole world at the expense of your soul.
Unfortunately I wasted many years chasing after things that were right in front of me but I was to blind to see. I was exchanging the false security of attaining more things to make me feel more secure and yet I felt more lost.
Letting go and retreating into a space where we are free from the cares of the world is the beginning of true wealth that cannot be purchased or earned.
The answer is in you.
